Exhibition ``The fragile beauty`` at the National Museum of Matera.

On July 29, 2021, the inauguration of the exhibition “The fragile beauty. New visions for the Diruta Church ”at the Carmine Church adjacent to Palazzo Lanfranchi in Matera.

A project born from the collaboration with Re-Use Italy and the National Museum of Matera.

The Church of Saints Luca and Giuliano di Grottole is commonly called the fallen or Diruta Church.

The Church, one of the most scenic ruins in Southern Italy, was the protagonist of the international competition of ideas Re-use The Fallen Church, for its reuse.

The exhibition displays the winning projects and special mentions of the competition, which included the creation of a concert hall inside the Diruta Church.

“The fragile beauty” becomes a tool to create new connections between the urban and rural territory, to generate an innovative tale of Basilicata and strengthen the link between Matera and the small villages of its hinterland.

 

“The fragile beauty” can be visited on Matera until 20 September inside the Church of the Carmine adjacent to Palazzo Lanfranchi.

 

The exhibition can also be visited in Grottole, through a path that begins at the Diruta Church and then develops into houses in the historic center.
