Grottole as educational destination
We were first contacted by POP Education, a French association that organizes study vacations for young people, in 2019. Three years have passed and, after years of travel restrictions, we hosted our first group of students in Grottole.
This fall 10 kids aged 14 to 16 came to the village to have immersive experiences in the Living Culture of Southern Italy, visiting the olive mill, making pasta by hand, learning how to taste different kinds of honey while visiting vineyards, wineries and more.
After this experience, we decided to ask Marie, founder of POP and educator specializing in educational trips, a few questions.
We leave you with her answers.
Hi Marie, what is POP and what are your goals?
POP is an association founded three years ago whose values are freedom, respect, benevolence and eco-responsibility. We organize trips for children and training courses for adults to become entertainers.
What is important in choosing an educational travel destination for POP?
The most important thing for us is to have a philanthropic goal. Because we are eco-responsible, we believe the trip should have a purpose, such as getting to know an NGO. The most important thing is that the trip makes the world a better place and introduces young people to advocacy.
What can a country like Grottole give young people in terms of experience and personal growth?
Villages offer French youth the opportunity to discover a way of life more focused on people, sharing and roots.
Our community is ready to welcome new schools and vacation groups to come and visit us.
